The library offers a plentiful reading supply with more than 170,000 volumes and 600 periodical and newspaper subscriptions. It also has an art gallery, Internet access, videos, records, tapes, CDs and CD-ROMs. Library cards are necessary to check out materials. They are available to people who live within the Dubuque city limits and show valid identification and their address. Area students must show a student identification card. Cards from any Dubuque County or Iowa library are honored.

Clarke College Nicholas J. Schrup Library: 1550 Clarke Drive, 588-6320. Hours: 7:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays, and 1-11 p.m. Sundays. Summer hours: 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 1-11 p.m. Sundays.

Eligible borrowers are students, faculty, staff and alumni of Clarke College, and students and faculty at Loras College, the University of Dubuque, Divine Word and Wartburg Theological Seminary.

The following people can borrow materials from the library: students, faculty, staff and alumni of Loras College. Also students, faculty and staff of Clarke College, the University of Dubuque, Wartburg Theological Seminary, Emmaus Bible College, Highland Community College, Ill., Divine Word College and any clergy member of the Archdiocese of Dubuque. Members of the Friends of the Wahlert Memorial Library also are welcome.

University of Dubuque Charles C. Meyers Library: 2000 University Ave., 589-3100. Hours: 7 a.m.-midnight Monday-Thursday; 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Fridays; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays; noon-midnight Sundays.
