Last chance to see one of Dubuque's all-time greats
Last updated on January 21, 2009 at 08:14 PM

Jordan Huff is certain to be a member of the Dubuque Senior Athletic Hall of Fame someday. He's already the most decorated swimmer in school history, and he has one state meet to go.

If you've never seen Huff swim, you probably should. Even if you are not a fan of swimming, he's a fun athlete to watch because he's so smooth and powerful in the water. (Plus, when he's swimming in the Olympics someday, you can say you watched him back when he was in high school.)

Huff has only one home meet left in high school. It's the MVC meet at Hempstead on Saturday afternoon. It should be a doozy. The MVC is absolutely loaded this year. And Dubuque schools figure to have a handful of champions, including Huff and Hempstead's Donny Warren.

If you've never been to a big meet like this one, here's a little advice: bring ear protection. It will be, by far, the loudest prep event you've ever encountered.

Hope to see you there.
