The Upper Main Street Jazz Band was formed in 1987 by the late Dick Zimmer, a well-known area musician and music educator. The six to eight piece band has performed all over the tri-state area, including: The Eagle Ridge Inn, The Dubuque Golf and Country Club, The DeSoto Hotel, The Prarie du Chien Boat Club, University of Wisconsin/Platteville, Clarke University, The Dubuque Arts
Councils’ Artists in Residence series, The Spirit of Dubuque, The Midway Hotel, The Dubuque Inn, The Hotel Julien Dubuque, Diamond Jack’s in Des Moines, Thunder Hills Country Club, Bell Tower Theater, The Holiday Inn-Five Flags, The Iowa State Fairgrounds, The Silver Eagle, Mystique Casino, Pelican Pier, The Dubuque Arboretum, The Grand Opera House, Rainbow Lounge, Hawkeye Bank of Dubuque, DubuqueFest, RiverFest, the Cat Trackers' Catfish Festival, America’s River Festival, The Dubuque County Fair, the Mississippi Moon Bar at Dubuque Diamond Jo, and many events for the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Dubuque Development Corporation.
The music is primarily pre-1940, and includes everything from Big Band to Swing to Polkas to Dixieland. The band's repertoire includes several hundred pieces.
Upper Main Street utilizes several musicians, so the make up of the band varies slightly and allows some flexibility. Generally the core group is made up of Ric Jones, Drummer and Leader; Bill Encke, Guitar; Chuck Bregman, Piano; Bill Rowley, Trumpet; Brian Enabnit, Trombone; David Resnick, Clarinet, Saxophones & vocals; and Mark Oberfoell, Electric Bass Guitar. Megan Gloss is our Lead Vocalist.
Other local legends have performed with the band over the years, including Paul Powers on trombone, Don Boal on guitar, Don Dugan on trumpet, Chuck Crimmins on bass and vocals and the late Rocky Rockhold on piano and vocals.

Join the Upper Main Street Jazz Band for fine music, dinner, wine and ambiance along Dubuque's Riverwalk for the third annual American Red Cross of the Tri-States' Riverview Barbeque. There will be fun things to bid on in a silent auction. Dinner is a collection of great foods prepared by championship barbeque chefs.
Admission is $25.00 per person in advance or $30.00 the week of the event.
