Internationally Famous Mooney Hollow Barn (Music Center & Saloon) is located 35 miles south of Dubuque Iowa directly off Highway 52 at Green Island, Iowa. This is the place where we provide the Best Music Entertainment in the middle of No Where only a few miles from Anywhere. Mooney Hollow Saloon is open Wednesday thru Friday starting at 5 PM and on Sat & Sun starting at 2 PM. The Music Center has the largest wooden barn dance floor in Iowa with a 30 ft x 30 ft dance floor area. The barn is Air Conditioned for the Summer months and Heated for the Winter months. The entire Music Center complex will accommodate large crowds comfortably. A Cover charge is required for most music dance events and all ages are welcome. The loft area overlooking the dance floor can be resevered for group gatherings during dance night events if reservatons are made ahead of time. This Internationallly Famous and Authentic Barn environment with outstanding acoustics has been the playing location in the early 1980s to some great Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame Legends like Roy Acuff, Ernst Tubb, Faron Young, Bill Monroe, Porter Wagner, Bill Anderson, Kitty Wells and more. During the past few years Nashville Country Legends have returned to this Legendary Barn with the likes of Whispering Bill Anderson (Sep 2009), Maggie Mae (Dec 2009), Marty Haggard (Feb 2010), Gene Watson (Apr 2010), Johnny Lee (Aug 2010), David Ball (Aug 2010), David Church (Nov 2010), Moe Bandy (Apr 2011), and Gene Watson (Oct 2011). For 2012 Country Legend Janie Fricke and the Roys Blue Grass Band will be playing here on Saturday, May 5th, 2012 and Country Legend Moe Bandy and the Americana Band will be returning to our stage again on Saturday, October 6, 2012. Our now Internationally Famous House Band who has played in the area for the past 30 years is Country Tradition. They open for all our Nashville Shows at the Barn. A barn dance is usually held the First and Third Saturday of every month with Country Tradition playing but check out our website or the schedule here for the exact dates and times. The sounds of other local hot bands such as 50 Pound Rooster Band, Bad Fish, Horsin' Around, Cheap Skates, Nutsy Turtle, Apple Dumplings Band and The Sounds of Nashville have played at this legendary vintage venue.
